Last weekend Garry and I thought it would be so exciting to relive our childhood years by introducing Andrew to the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Christmas special that would air each Christmas season.
Garry rented it from Hollywood. I played Rudolph on the piano. We introduced some specially purchased caramel corn and then, with much ado, presented the recently rented DVD to Andrew.
Andrew stared...not at Rudolph but at the abominable snowman monster and then threw the DVD out of reach.

After much coaxing we insisted he would like the video. Turns out our babysitter from the weekend before had brought it over. So, when we put the DVD in, it jumped to where it was last playing, in the middle of a scary part. The first thing that happened when we all sat down to watch it was that the abominable snowman jumped out from behind a mountain. Andrew screamed. So much for Rudolph.
Fast forward to several days later when we exchanged Rudolph for Elf.

Garry and I started it after the kids went down. Andrew snuck out of bed (as usual) and started busting up at portions of Elf. We have now watched it every night this week and Andrew can quote long portions of it.
Most of the the children's shows are really too scary for toddlers. Maybe we should try more comedies.
