We attended church two Sundays while we were in northern Israel. There are three branches in Israel—Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Tiberias. The branch we attended, Tiberias, was just a couple miles south of the kibbutz. Of course, we got lost the first time we tried to find it. Fortunately, we had the time wrong and made it there a half hour early.

We were greeted by Brother and Sister Cook who are the service missionaries assigned to the branch. The live in the beautiful villa along a hillside overlooking the Galillee. The room that serves as the chapel has glass windows going out to a patio that overlooks the sea. It is a beautiful setting. There were about 10 members in attendance our first Sunday.

Jen was asked the speak the following Sunday and Garry was asked to teach Sunday School. One of the counselors in the Branch Presidency quickly fashioned a nursery lesson for Andrew during Sacrament Meeting when he saw us. We were also able to meet Sister Spencer who knew Garry’s family when they lived there years ago.

As it turned out, a potluck was scheduled after church the first week we attended. We really enjoyed our opportunity to chat with the branch members—including the Cook’s, Sister Spencer, and Hansen's.
